There are two transport options when selecting an SO Series Scanner; the SO Series Image Only and the SO Series OCR.

The SO Series Image Only machine is a cross-market scanning solution for processing high volumes of paper - in a wide range of sizes and weights. The Image-only machine is best suited for organizations that do not need to sort documents based on any intelligent recognition. Typical examples would be Service Bureaus, Insurance claim processing centers capturing HCFA claim forms with or without attachments, records management, accounts payables, test scoring, waybills, order entry, proof of purchase, low volume tax processing.
SO Series OCR: The SO Series OCR machine is also a cross-market scanning solution for organizations processing high volumes of paper in a wide range of sizes and weights that have the requirement for OCR and intelligent sorting. This would be any organization that has the need to ID the forms using inline recognition (intelligent IJP) for sorting or other uses of the documents and/or images afterwards. Examples of these types of organizations would be the large government tax processors and educational assessment/testing markets.
