The Fujitsu fi-4340C scanner is the first scanner in the range that uses a 600dpi camera enabling extremely high quality scans ideally suited for scanning of graphics for web or DTP projects. The fi-4340C also offers the ability to scan at up to 40 pages per minute in simplex (76ipm duplex) and 16 pages per minute in colour (29ipm duplex). The ADF has a capacity of 100 sheets and can scan from A8 size up to A4. The scanner offers users the option of a JPEG compression board that can be installed in the third party slot.

An imprinter is also available that allows backside printing of up to 40 characters in a line to confirm that the document has been scanned.

The standard 100 sheet A4 document feeder also includes Fujitsu’s unique infra red double feed detection feature which stops the scanner in the instance of a double feed. A SCSI-2 interface slot is as standard with the potential of the IPC4D processing device to be installed.

The fi-5000N allows the scanner to be placed anywhere on your local area network as a common shared resource by up to 32 users.

The fi-5000N offers two modes of working :

Pull

Users may 'pull' images from the networked scanner in a similar way to a locally connected scanner i.e. from application, select scanner and scanning parameters within the TWAIN driver, place documents on scanner, identify themselves to the fi-5000N either by fingerprint or PIN number, the scanned image will then be delivered back into their chosen application.

Push

Users identify themselves to the fi-5000N at the networked scanner location, using either fingerprint or PIN number, this information is used by the system to indicate the target PC, pressing the scan button will cause the target applictation to open on the users PC and the image be delivered to it.

Using the fi-5000N in conjuction with ScandAll21 allows users to automate many office processes. such as sending a document as an email attachment. i.e. place document on scanner, identify themselves to the fi-5000N using either fingerprint or PIN number, on the target PC the email client will be opened with a new mail item with the scanned image document already attached, it only remains to select the receipients from the PCs email clients address book, enter the message text and send it.

All of the connected scanners native features, such as deskew. multiple feed detection, image processing etc are available to all users of the networked scanner.

Ease of handling

Operating the fi-5110C is simple, and user-friendly. By utilizing its integrated TWAIN or ISIS drivers, the scanner can be conveniently controlled from nearly every document system. Functions like scan-to-print or scan-to-mail are easily activated via the scanner's programmable operator panel. Even addressing documents to the included ABBYY FineReader 8.0 Professional is easily possible.

Rapid Processing

The fi-5110C process up to 15 pages per minute in simplex-mode and up to 30 images per minute in duplex-mode-these scan speeds apply to scanning in colour at 150dpi and A4 portrait. Even when scanning several hundred documents a day, the speedy paper transport ensures almost immediate access to scan results. The intended information processing tasks are initiated without interruptions. The fi-5110C can automatically create graphical formats like TIFF, JPEG or PDF. Included is also he full version of Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Standard, which enables the forwarding of scanned documents to be marked with comments or digital signatures. Mixed batch scanning

The ScanSnap S510M will comfortably scan documents from as small as business card size right up to A3 with the use of a supplied carrier sheet. Software enables the scanner to automatically recognise the size of documents scanned and crop them accordingly thereby optimising storage space.

Additional functionality

ScanSnap S510M comes with a host of built in functionality to improve the quality of the scanned image and minimise operator involvement. Automatic colour detection ensures that whatever the colour or monochrome format of a document that it is scanned and stored accordingly. Mixed single and double sided documents are no problem as any blank pages scanned will be automatically removed and equally if pages are scanned in the wrong way up with text elements the scanned image will be automatically rotated. The enhanced image is also improved with automatic deskew that ensures that documents inserted at an angle are automatically realigned.

Simple, intuitive scanning

A new feature of ScanSnap S510M is the 'Quick Menu' function. This feature allows the user during the scan process to determine the destination of the scanned document. The Quick Menu is launched after pressing the scan button and the user can then choose to immediately send the scanned document by email, print it out, store in a particular folder or have them converted and opened in Word, Excel or PowerPoint.
